Star Wars: The Card Game - It Binds All Things
Art Director: Zoe Robinson
Digital

I produced one card for the upcoming expansion to the Star Wars: The Card Game, It Binds All Things. This time around I got to illustrate an actual named character... everybody's favorite robotic Bounty Hunter, IG-88! I also got to include Jabba the Hutt, a Rodian, an Amanaman, and a bunch of other aliens hiding back in the shadows too! RAWR!

A picture that is simultaneously cold and seedy feeling. Just as it should be in Jabba's palace!

Lucky dog!  This would be a childhood dream come true!  I'd be psyched with anyone but Dengar.... really, how many kids got use out of the only action figure that comes pre injured?

Great painting!  I keep forgetting that you paint digitally, I would have assumed acrylic.  Either way, I especially like the color scheme for the red foreground lighting.  These seem like tricky proportions to work with, not to mention the usual considerations when making CCG art.

I actually prefer a wide horizontal format rather then a tall vertical. While this is in the extreme, it feels more like a movie format, which for me, lends itself for making Star Wars images. I also would not mind a Dengar assignment... even Dengar has a story to tell.

Agreed, I'd take horizontal over vertical almost anytime.  I've had to do a number of vertical sidebar type illustrations for books, and at times it can be a real challenge to fit certain kinds of things in that space- especially if they really call for horizontal justification.  I assume the SW cards intentionally mimic the widescreen proportions.

OK, next time we play with our Star Wars figures, you're getting Dengar. ;)
